Sharing and learning is the responsibility of every member of the team. This role will report to the President and will work with their manager to establish monthly, quarterly, and annual professional development goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Be an active member of our in-house dev team to develop and improve upon features for new and existing web applications using JavaScript and PHP
- Execute development sprints in a scrum-based agile environment
- Collaborate with other members of our dev team to solve technical problems, devise solutions, research new methods/techniques, share ideas and participate in code reviews
- Design relational database and other data structures
- Author clean code and produce internal documentation to reduce tech debt
- Write middleware for third-party services
- Architect new projects by researching and defining technology stack solutions
- Help improve the Mile6 developer experience
- Assist with estimating and project proposals, write project specifications and meet with current and prospective clients as needed
- Participate in writing user stories, reviewing backlog and sprint planning/review meetings with clients and product owners
- Maintain legacy web applications and build testing suites
- Serve as a mentor and resource to other developers to help them grow and reduce obstacles
- Experiment with new technologies and frameworks
- Implement and maintain AWS based solutions using RDS, S3, EC2 among others.
Technical Experience Requirements
- Proficiency in Laravel with a minimum of 4 years of real-world experience
- Proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework React, Vue.js or Angular with at least 4 years of real-world experience (Vue is preferred)
- Four years of experience developing in modern JavaScript (ES6, TypeScript), package managers (Composer, npm, Yarn) and build tools (Webpack, gulp)
- Four years of experience designing, implementing, tuning and maintaining AWS based solutions in a production environment
- Experience writing and documenting APIs for internal and external use
- A mastery of Git
- Working knowledge of common terminal commands
- Ability to confidently develop using a macOS based development environment
- Ability to write unit tests and develop with a TDD mindset
- Strong working knowledge of web application security best practices
- Ability to write optimized, complex SQL queries
Extra Credit
- Experience using GoF design patterns
- Experience with Symfony
- App development using Ionic Framework

- Familiarity and comfort working in an agency setting with project variations and regular, planned context switching

We offer competitive pay, a relaxed work environment, regular company paid functions, flexible schedules and an environment fostering professional growth and collaboration. Starting salary range for this position is $80,000 – $120,000.
This is a remote (work from home) position with occasional travel in the future.
